River Mersey East

Several official routes claim as their own—near Stockport a motorway of off‐road paths with bewildering many‐source waymarks, sometimes stacked. Weaves about to follow the river. Footing reasonable, though brownfield rubble between Chorlton and Cheadle Bridge. Noisy, because weaves the outer ringroad. Mostly green or grown‐over urban, with stretches of notable park, no scenery, but the museum/futuristic interest of the Stockport end. Away from the parks and Stockport, it’s urban drab, but not bad for a walk.
