Unofficial, this site created the walk (why no official route?), so no marks. Only follows the river in the sense of staying in the Mersey valley—may see a river after Millenium Bridge. Surprisingly few navigation issues, though the estate near Irlam Locks is all back alleys. All easy underfoot. City noise everywhere. Huge variety of city views with estates, parks and woods. Engaging, packed with local sights and walks including Flixton Walled Gardens (an unmarked gem), Riverside Cafe and Sale Water Park
