River Medlock North
Oldham, Ashton Under Lyne
Rough paths to notable viewpoint
About
It was/is an official route, the ‘Medlock Valley Way’—I found a rotten wood sign somewhere. Is close to the river, sometimes. Only good navigation is in Lees—otherwise, many puzzles. Paths are narrow and broken throughout Rocher Vale, only wide as a plank, and becomes a poor moortrack above Strinesdale. Overgrown urban leading up steep to rough moor at the top. Unmaintained urban overgrowth is against it, but Lees is reasonable and Bishop’s Park may have no facilities, but is a huge area of rough hilltop with cafes and pubs on the road, a quarry with fossils, a memorial and a trig‐point view.
